The Nordic countries have roughly 27 million people altogether, and together the Nordic region is the world’s 12th largest economy.
Nordic countries are modern and innovative economies with a highly educated populations. These conditions have allowed Nordic companies to prosper in international business, innovation and cutting-edge technologies, sustainable development, and sustainable
management of resources.
The Market Expansion USA program has become a critical first step for NORDIC Businesses in developing U.S. market expansion strategy. Since 1995, the NORDIC Business Council USA, in partnership with SMART Community Exchange (“SCE”) USA,
network has led NORDIC Trade Missions and assisted Business Executives, Senior Professionals, Investors, and Journalists to discover unique opportunities and expand reach and operations within the United States, U.S. Territories, and her Allies.
To prepare NORDIC Businesses for a new target market expansion, the NORDIC Business Council (“NBC”) USA in partnership with regional government and industry partners, is organizing Trade Missions and Transatlantic Trade, Technology, and Security Exchanges. These virtual and in-person missions and events will provide participants access to local business contacts, ecosystems, market insights, networks, and training they need to develop internationalization and new target market strategies and build strategic partnerships.
The Nordic countries and the United States have much in common. We all share the fundamental values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. We strive toward societies based on non-discrimination, equality, and inclusion, regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religious background.
Nordic ties with the United States are strong and profound. Millions of Americans claim Nordic ancestry. A Nordic footprint can be seen especially in some of the northern states of the U.S. Thousands of Nordic companies — and companies with a substantial Nordic ownership — employ several hundreds of thousands of Americans.
Nordic investments in the U.S. are counted in billions of dollars. The United States, as the biggest economy in the world, has a considerable
impact on the economies of the Nordics.
The Nordic countries have taken global leadership in gender equality. They were among the first in the world to grant women the right to vote. Women’s influence in politics and social development has been very significant ever since.
The prosperity of the Nordic region owes much to long-term investments in their people, through healthcare, education, and parental support. This insurance makes Nordic countries and people stronger and less vulnerable as societies, but it also makes economic sense. Giving all an equal chance to take part in the workforce is profitable to the society.
The United States and NATO have for decades had a central role in maintaining and enhancing security in Europe. This is highly valued by the Nordic countries. Denmark, Iceland, Norway, and the United States are members of NATO, whereas Finland and Sweden are close
collaborators and applied in May 2022 to join NATO.
Cooperation is comprehensive. Conflict prevention and resolution, international crisis
management, disarmament, non-proliferation, and the fight against terrorism are prime examples of widely beneficial cooperation in the
field of security. The Nordics are strong contributors to international security. They share the burden not only in their own region but also globally.
NORDIC Business Council (“NBC”) USA is a specially formed Executive Council that drives USA-NORDIC cooperation, shares perspectives from stakeholders, and helps power enterprises, organizations, institutions, and governments with valuable insight.
The Trade Mission is a business expansion and education program and is eligible for many global expansion programs.
